Are
You a Passionate Creator,
Helping to Birth the Emerging Planetary Culture?
Elite Books is the publisher of several influential collections of powerful ideas from some of the most advanced thinkers of our generation. Elite anthologies published from 2004 to 2008 include Healing the Heart of the World (Best Inspirational Book 2006), The Marriage of Sex and Spirit, (Best Health/Sexuality Book 2006) and Einstein's Business (Best Business Book 2007).
In addition to tapping the wisdom of New York Times best-selling authors, and internationally famous authorities, the editors of the Elite Books series believe that much of the most intriguing work is being done by lesser-known pioneers who have yet to be widely published. For this reason, they select twelve New Voices for each anthology. New Voices need have no publishing history, but they must have an intriguing and noteworthy story, the ability to tell it well, and a community through which they can support the distribution of the finished anthology. Does this sound like you? If so, we would be excited to see your ideas!
Elite Books is publishing two new anthologies in 2008 and 2009. The first, Audacious Aging showcases the radical revisioning of the second half of life that is occurring in modern societies. The second, planned for late 2009, is about women in leadership, and has a working title of Goddess Shift: Women Leading for a Change. A future anthology theme is Consciousness and Healing, about the impact of changes in consciousness on cellular and biological function.
Among the best-selling authors contributing to these projects are John Gray (Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus), Prince Charles, George McGovern, Helen Gurley Brown, Lynne McTaggart (The Field), Christiane Northrup (Mother-Daughter Wisdom), Gay Hendricks (Conscious Loving), Steven Covey (The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People), Caroline Myss (Invisible Acts of Power), Dean Ornish (Love and Survival), Neale Donald Walsch (Conversations With God), Thich Nhat Hanh (No Death,
No Fear), and others.
What
qualifies an unpublished author to stand in the company of
these authorities? Prior writing experience is useful, but
not a prerequisite as the Editors work closely with each New
Voice selected to produce a truly excellent chapter. Many
of the New Voices have already written books, but most have
not. Original ideas, a fresh style, and a direct, personable
manner are advantages. Some of the criteria the Editors consider
for selection into the New Voices Program are:
Clear,
competent writing style
High-impact, provocative message
Track record of participation in, and contribution to, their
professional field
A network of contacts through which they can help publicize
the book
An agreement to pre-purchase 500 discounted copies to distribute
through their networks (see New
Voices contract)
Willingness
to make occasional publicity appearances to support the
project
To be considered for the New Voices Program, please send a cover letter, a brief outline of your proposed chapter, a sample of your writing (1 to 2 pages) or a rough draft, and a signed contract to the address below. The length for all chapters is 2,000 to 3,000 words. Click
here to print a copy of the New Voices contract. Click
here for Contributor Guidelines. We've tried to answer
all the obvious questions in the contract and contributor
guidelines, but if we've missed something, feel free to e-mail
us.
Mail proposals to: New Voices Editors, Elite Books, PO Box 442, Fulton, CA 95439. Successful applicants will be notified within six weeks of receipt, in the form of a letter from the Editors and a countersigned contract. Prior to publication we'll also need an author photograph and a 100 word biography that includes the author's web site address and the photographer's credit, if required by the photographer.
What Participants Have to Say
About the New Voices Program:
"The New Voices program was an answer to prayer.
My author-partner Bruce Lipton and I met New Voices
editor Dawson Church a couple of months before we
were due to take Bruce's self-published book to press.
Bruce wrote a chapter for Healing Our Planet,
Healing Our Selves, and all of a sudden was published
with many leading-edge thinkers! We then went on to
publish Bruce's book The
Biology of Belief, in partnership with Dawson Church. It hit the Amazon.com Top 50 the week the book was released! This program is a guiding light, full of knowledge, experience and inspiration for both published and unpublished writers who have something vital to contribute to today's world. The New Voices program is the perfect vehicle through which to deliver a passionate message. We would to it all again in a heartbeat!"

"Being a "New Voice" really jump-started my writing. Once I completed a chapter, with the strong and inspired advice of the New Voices editors, I realized that I could, in fact, write well; it just takes the discipline to sit down at the computer and, as Nike so succinctly puts it, "just do it." It helped me attract a literary agent, and now a publisher for my manuscript. Thanks again for the impetus!"
- Deborah King, J.D., Ph.D.
author of Truth Heals
"After
my New Voices chapter was published, I Googled my
name, and was pleasantly surprised by finding several
websites referencing my chapter. I felt that the coauthors
had not only collaborated in creating a beautiful
book, but were supporting one another in getting our
message out to the world."
- Tony Scheving, Ph.D.
"The opportunity to be published and distributed at a national level really lit a fire under the process of finding my voice. For the first time everand I've been at it for over a decadeI am happy with what I'm writing. It feels like I am saying what I am here to say, in a way that has the punch I want it to have. Thank you so much for thinking big, playing big, and inviting me to play with you."
